On the first day of The Glass Bottom Boat, I arrived and I looked at my chair - it was an old director’s chair with my name spelled in ballpoint pen… and it was spelled incorrectly - “D-E-L-O-U-I-S-E.” I had a sad face, and Doris was sitting next to me and she said, ‘What’s the matter?’ I said, ‘I always dreamed of having a chair with my name on it, and it’s spelled wrong.’ So the next day, I got a brand new chair, and I cried a little as I looked at it. My name was spelled correctly. I looked at Doris, and she said, ‘That, you can take home.’
